In 2003, the Commission launched a campaign for the protection of endangered monuments aiming to educate the population about the importance of heritage for the preservation of Bosnia and Herzegovina identity, and to ensure the funds through donations for their rehabilitation. Within the campaign, the Commission prepared, designed and printed promotional materials consisting of:

  • 230 display panels of national monuments at risk and properties designated as national monuments by the decisions of the Commission;
  • Three periodical catalogs with basic information about the work of the Commission, national monuments and monuments at risk as defined by a decision of the Commission (2500 pcs.)
  • Over 2,000 pieces of CDs / video presentations of national monuments and monuments at risk as defined by a decision of the Commission;
  • Over 6,000 postcards with examples of national monuments at risk.

Part of the promotional material was sent to all relevant representatives of the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina at all levels, international organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad, diplomatic missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, some diplomatic missions of Bosnia and Herzegovina abroad, religious communities, universities, non-governmental organizations, representatives of ICCROM, the European Commission, UNESCO, ICOMOS, the Council of Europe, USAID, UNDP, etc.

In addition to promotional materials, the Commission prepared initial projectproposals for the protection of three most vulnerable monuments: the Bridge in Višegrad, the Old Town of Stolac and the Fortress in Jajce.

As a part of the Campaign, a donor meeting was held in March 2005, organized by the Commission to Preserve National Monuments and the Royal Norwegian Embassy, which was attended by 36 representatives of embassies and international and local organizations.

From 2003 to 2014, within the campaign for the protection of heritage at risk entitled "Cultural memory - a vanishing treasure", numerous exhibitions were held comprising video presentations and display panels of national monuments and monuments at risk, as well as photographs and text indicating the basic information about the monument.

Within the framework of the campaign for saving the heritage at risk and its integration into development trends and post-war reconstructions, the Commission approached international entities for financial and other type of support, as well as the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina at all levels, businesses entities in the country and abroad. There is a special bank account of the Commission intended for donations, and the funds paid into this account are used in a manner determined by the decisions of the Commission, Rulebook on Implementation of Donor Funds Intended for Reconstruction or Protection of Cultural Heritage at Risk in Bosnia and Herzegovina, or agreements on donations and similar contracts.
